Today’s entry: Street Level Heroes
”Take him down!” Cassandra’s orders exploded into the battle field as officers went for crook after crook.
As quickly as someone followed her order another one of her officers got caught, tortured, and in some cases butchered.
But they never died.
None in her precinct died. They all just rose again. Just like the criminals they chased.
“I am on it.” Aresh rushed after the limping man.
“We need more people,” Cassandra mumbled. With one eye on the red monster, she reloaded. “And air support.”
A bullet hit her in the shoulder. It hurt more than the one who flew through her brain, but she didn’t scream. Not anymore. The one through her brain messed up her thoughts for a little while, that was at least scary.
“I am here.”
Cassandra would recognize the voice anywhere. A power player. Just what she needed.
“Kara!” She turned around but froze at the sight of her colleague. The skin hang sloppily around her face and body.
“What happened to you?”
“Not now,” Kara said. “I need to wrap my head around it for myself first. Where do you need me?”
Cassandra scanned Kara just a second to much for it to seem natural. She shook her head. “Everywhere. Find someone who isn’t with an officer and take them down.”
“Great.” Kara picked up a knife and her gun. “I really need to pick some bad guys apart today.”
Kara vanished into the masses. She seemed to enjoy the blood a little too much today. Casandra shrugged the thought away. Blood is good today.
Another bullet hit her. In the chest this time. More blood left her body, but the body didn’t seem to notice. Cassandra scanned the mass and aimed her gun towards a suspect.
A warm breeze pushed against Cassandra’s back. She looked up.
Everyone looked up.
The slaughter took a break.
“What is that?” Cassandra said, then her eyes widened. “Shit, not that too.”
