The hit flung Xander down to the floor leaving a blood trail running down his forehead.
”So, how does it feel to have your own creations turning against you?”
Xander spat. More blood than spit.
”I am sorry,” he said. ”I don’t know what you are talking about.”
A hand grabbed his hair and pulled his head back.
”Don’t you try to fool us,” the man in a white coat wheezed.
Dr. Hiedel, Xander recalled from the databank they stored on all potential threats, and non-threats.
”I am not trying anything. You are the one who broke into my house of beauty.”
Dr. Heidel threw him to floor nose first, and the hit left more blood leaving the face that once was so undamaged.
”Brihill, please take care of this one for me.”
”With pleasure, sir,” said one of the soldiers.
A new rifle hit against the back of Xander’s head. Everything turned white, then black and lastly the army and their leader came back.
”Do you know who I am?” The soldier whispered in to his ear. The soldier supported himself on his rifle and teddy bear hanging on a keychain swung back and forth in front of Xander’s face.
Well done Bryan, Xander thought and surpressed a smile, you bested your demons.
”I have never seen you in my entire life.”
”You pumped me full of drugs. You made me crazy, just to sell me to some stupid war.”
And now you are part of an even stupider war, Xander sighed,
”Dr. Hiedel it is right? You are playing a very dangerous game.”
”I am not playing.”
Yes, you are, Xander thought. This time he let the smile through.
”Murder ants can also die.”
Every soldier went stiff. Then a knife went through a ribcage, and fists crushed a skull.
”Idiots,” Xander laughed while watching Dr. Hiedel being torn apart. The thought of Dr. Hiedel ending up in the pit along with all his soldiers made him laugh harder.
Then Bryan Brihill punched the rifle through Xander’s head while screaming his lungs out.
Everything went dark.
Then there was light, and Xander was released from a tube.
”Welcome back Dr. Bylix,” a robot said.
”Thank you Mitchel. Lets see what this body can do.”

Flashes of Sanity #92: Key chain

Welcome to Flashes of Sanity! Your weekly dose of flash fiction on 500 words or less.

This week’s entry: Key chain

Enjoy!

I am more than my fears, the soldier thought. I am more than my fears.
Then he attached the keychain to his rifle.
“Are you ready?” By the door to his room stood a man in a white lab coat. The shivers still travelled up the soldier’s spine at the sight of the man even though the pain was long gone by now.
“Yes, sir.”
“Great, we want you at the hall in fifteen,” the man in lab coat said, then the he looked straight into the soldier’s eyes. “And remember, you are more than your fears.”
The soldier arose from his bed, the teddy bear dangled on the chain.
‘I will murder you,’ the bear whispered.
Nothing but the brain playing games, the soldier knew, still the whispers were enough to make his mouth taste like blood.
“I am more than my fears,” he said and saluted.
The face above the lab coat cracked in a smile.
“I am glad you are still holding our values high, soldier.”
“Thank you Dr. Hiedel. I am glad to be part of your army.”
Dr. Hiedel continued down the hall to the next soldier, and the next after that. Bryan Brihill could hear them all give the same positive answer.
Soon, he thought. Soon, I will get my revenge.
